Muru Giligu – Metro Martin Place Pedestrian Link
Metro Martin Place is a pivotal interchange within the new Sydney Metro network, linking the North and South concourses through a sequence of ground and basement level connections. Among these, the Muru Giligu pedestrian link stands out as a 67 metre tunnel carved through rock and transformed into an immersive experience of light and sound.
Electrolight’s lighting concept integrates two layers of illumination, static and dynamic, controlled via a bespoke algorithmic system that responds to movement and sound. Audio soundscapes and proximity sensors heighten the sensory journey, creating a deeply engaging and contemplative passageway.
Linealuce 27 luminaires are seamlessly installed beneath the side edges along both walls, providing a continuous, uniform wash of light that enhances visual comfort and rhythmically guides pedestrians through the space.
