As part of Sutherland Shire Council’s Masterplan, Seymour Shaw Park has been transformed with the creation of a new active sports youth precinct and revitalised open space. The upgraded area features shaded social zones, two skate bowls and a skate plaza, a basketball half-court, sculptural elements, and a children’s playground.
We collaborated closely with Simpson Landscapes and Consultants, ECS, and Rubidium Light on the lighting design for the precinct.
Laser Blade InOut downlights are recessed within the U-shaped structures to provide comfortable general illumination, while Light Up Orbit in-ground fittings highlight the external forms. Underscore InOut RGB colour-changing LED strips are integrated beneath the plinths and paired with DALI lighting control, enabling the council to adjust colours for special events and celebrations. This level of control also allows brightness and colour to be moderated when not in use, helping to protect the surrounding flora and fauna.
